What they are ecological stations?
Ecological stations are Brazilian representative areas of escossistemas, destined to the accomplishment of scientific research to the protection of the natural environment and to the development of the education of conservation.


The Ecological Station of Juréia-Itatins.
The Ecological Station of Juréia-Itatins, located so south of the State of São Paulo, enclosing part of the cities of Iguape, Peruíbe, Itaririe Miracatu, collating itself still with the one of Pedro de Toledo, is a unit created for the law nº 5.649 of 1987, protecting about 80.000 ha of Atlantic Bush and ecosystems associates, such as, restingas, manguazais, bathed, rocky beaches and "costões". In this way a traditional population of caiçaras coexists the nature. (native inhabitants of the region)

These environments shelter a series of species rich and diversified, with threatened species and extinguishing, such as, Toucans, tapirs, jacutinga, ounce-painted, parrot-chaúa and mono-coal dealer.

The Station propitiates field of research, preservation and development of the culture caiçara e, among others activities the Lived deeply Ambient Education.

This Unit is managed by the Division of reserves and State parks of the pertaining Forest Institute to the Secretariat of the Environment.

The experience of implantation of this unit of conservation of great transport is pioneering and esforçoes of the forest institute shows that the station has fulfilled its paper.
